UC SD/HD: how to access directly the video streams and the snapshot

IP-based systems are mainly used together with a VMS, which manages the video stream(s) coming from the unit, and displays eventually the video snapshots.

A direct access is anyway possible, and sometime used to develop custom integrations tailored on an existing system. The UC SD/HD encoders make 4 independent streams available. To access the video streams (e.g. using VLC):

main stream:

rtsp://192.168.10.100/video1

secondary stream:

rtsp://192.168.10.100/video1s

third stream:

rtsp://192.168.10.100/video1s2

fourth stream:

rtsp://192.168.10.100/video1s3

The main stream and the secondary stream can be configured by the web interface. The third and fourth streams configuration can be done using an ONVIF manager only (the ODM or another ONVIF-based VMS).

What about the snapshot? It can be uploaded from the following URI:

http://192.168.10.100/capture/ch0.jpg?quality=80

Such information are also valid for the NXPTZ, the MPX, and the MVX families, which share the same encoder together with the UC family. They aren't instead for the Ulisse Netcam and Radical families.

Do you want to stream the video over Multicast instead of Unicast?

On VLC, just add the rtsp-mcast=1 option. Check below:
