Inside the Ulisse Netcam's housing, a 12VDC/800mA power line for the camera is provided; PoE apart, 12VDC is the most common voltage to feed network cameras indeed.
Some cameras require anyhow a different level, and (once more) the most common is 24VAC.
It is not possible to find such voltage level inside the housing directly; also, due to the continuous-rotation capability, it is not possible to bring an additional wire externally, without the risk to twist and tear it off.
The Ulisse provides a couple of Auxiliary Lines that run straight from the base to the housing. Those lines are left free, to provide the customer with the flexibility to use them for special purposes (e.g. dry contacts from the housing, sensor connections, ...).
Such lines are marked as F1 and F2, both on the base's and on the housing's clamps.
If they are not dealing with other aims, F1/F2 lines can be used to carry the 24VAC from the base transformer to the housing top. Check the following diagram:
The 24VAC are taken at the transformer exit, and bridged to the F1/F2 clamps; inside the housing, the F1/F2 are the 24VAC terminals used to power up the camera in place of the usual 12VDC/GND.
Note that, for the same reasons explained in this article (why the camera can not be powered directly), the F1/F2 can not be connected to the camera without going through the D/N housing switch.
Warnings:
- the F1/F2 lines are limited in current to 800mA, to protect the Ulisse's slip ring from possible overloads and damages; check the camera feeding requirements before using the F1/F2 to power it up;
- be sure to connect the transformer's secondary to F1/F2; fatal damages occur if, by mistake, the primary terminals are bridged to F1/F2.
Please avoid to blow up your unit! Double check the voltage level using a multimeter before connecting the wires.
